Long-Distance Removals from Birmingham
Moving out of Birmingham, or relocating to it from elsewhere in the UK? Our long-distance crews handle full-load single-day moves anywhere from Cornwall to the Highlands, with one fixed price agreed before we set off.
UK-Wide Removals, Run From Birmingham
Birmingham sits in the geographical heart of the UK, which makes it one of the best places in the country to run a long-distance removals operation from. From our depot near the city centre, we are within four hours of more than 80% of the UK population by motorway, so a same-day single-trip move is realistic for almost every destination south of Edinburgh.
Long-distance moves account for around a quarter of our work. We handle relocations to London for new jobs, moves to Manchester and Leeds for family reasons, returns to the south west, and longer hauls up to Scotland and Wales. Every trip is planned in detail so that loading, transit and unloading happen in one continuous day wherever possible.
We are fully BAR-aligned in our approach to long-distance work, with double-wrapped furniture, numbered inventory, real-time route tracking and a single named lead mover from doorstep to doorstep. You speak to the same person all day, not a switchboard.
How Much Does a Long-Distance Move from Birmingham Cost?
Long-distance removal prices depend on three things: the size of your home, the distance involved and how easy access is at both ends. The table below gives realistic fixed-price ranges for full-home moves from Birmingham to popular UK destinations.
These prices are based on a single-trip, single-day move with packing handled by you. Adding our full packing service, specialist piano handling or short-term storage at either end is priced separately and only added if you ask for it.
| Destination from Birmingham | Distance | Typical 3-Bed Cost |
|---|---|---|
| London | Around 120 miles | £950 to £1,500 |
| Manchester | Around 90 miles | £800 to £1,300 |
| Leeds or Sheffield | Around 100 miles | £850 to £1,400 |
| Bristol or Cardiff | Around 90 to 105 miles | £800 to £1,350 |
| Newcastle | Around 210 miles | £1,300 to £2,000 |
| Edinburgh or Glasgow | Around 290 miles | £1,600 to £2,500 |
| Cornwall (Truro etc.) | Around 280 miles | £1,600 to £2,400 |
How a Long-Distance Move Works
Long-distance jobs need more planning than local moves because timing, fuel, driver hours and access at the destination all have to line up. Here is how a typical long-distance move with us unfolds.
Single-Day vs Two-Day Moves
For most three and four-bedroom homes within around 200 miles of Birmingham, a single-day single-trip move is comfortable. We start loading at 7am or 8am, drive directly to the new property and unload in the afternoon or early evening. By bedtime everything is in the right room and the kettle is plugged in.
For larger homes, very long distances (Scotland, Cornwall, west Wales) or moves with complex access at either end, a two-day move can be safer and less rushed. We load on day one, secure the vehicle overnight, drive in the morning and unload at the new property by lunchtime on day two. There is no extra vehicle cost for the overnight, just the crew time.
We will recommend the right approach when we quote, based on volume, distance, completion timings and how stressful you want the day to be.
Moving Out of Birmingham for the First Time?
For a lot of customers, this is their first move beyond the West Midlands. Long-distance removals can feel daunting compared to a quick local move, but the practical concerns are mostly logistical rather than dramatic. The right vehicle, the right crew and a clear plan make the difference.
We talk through the move in detail before the day, including what to pack in your overnight 'first night' box, how to label boxes by room, what time you should aim to be at the new property, and what to do if your buyer or seller delays completion. There are no surprises on the day because we have already agreed how to handle the most common issues.
Inbound Moves to Birmingham
We also handle long-distance removals into Birmingham from across the UK. Customers relocating from London for work, from the South West for university, or from the North for family reasons all rely on our local Birmingham knowledge for the second half of the move.
When unloading in tight Birmingham streets like the terraces of Moseley, the conservation roads of Bournville, or the high-rise blocks in the city centre, having a Birmingham-based crew makes the second half far smoother than working with a London or Manchester firm that has never parked on Heeley Road in their lives.
Insurance, Tracking and Peace of Mind
Every long-distance move is fully covered by our £10m Goods in Transit insurance and £5m Public Liability insurance, both maintained at the same level whether the move is two miles or two hundred. Our vehicles carry live GPS tracking so we can share the van's progress with you in real time on moving day, useful if your destination move-in time is dependent on solicitors completing.
Each long-distance crew is led by a named senior mover who travels in the van and is your single point of contact for the entire job. No call centres, no being passed around, no losing the thread of where your belongings are. If you need to call between loading and unloading, you call the same person who shook your hand on the doorstep that morning.
